Lili White studied painting at the Pennsylvania Academy, and while there also made Super 8 experimental films. Her works bear witness to human activity that runs primarily on unconscious energy. Others explore relationships of power and repression, sometimes drawing from ancient stories, re-contextualized into meditations on the world that we live in, or functioning to solidify a memory of a particular situation. Visuals skew between the figurative and the abstract; impressions of a borderline area that simultaneously belongs to action, thought, and emotion. In 2010 she founded AN OTHER EXPERIMENT by WOMEN FILM FESTIVAL in NYC screening experimental films. She also developed an online streaming website that functions as an archive of women’s endeavors, presenting and paying the filmmakers immediately upon purchase.
