The Greenpoint Film Festival Returns This August With 100+ Film Screenings

Movie buffs unite–the 13th annual Greenpoint Film Festival is making its way back to Brooklyn beginning Wednesday, August 7th!

Started in 2011, the Greenpoint Film Festival was intended for one purpose: to create a focal point in critically-acclaimed, thought-provoking, and upcoming filmmakers. For over ten years they’ve been giving voices to the voiceless in the filmmaking industry while bringing together Brooklyn’s dazzling Greenpoint neighborhood.

And this year may be their best iteration yet!

From Wednesday, August 7th through Sunday, August 11th, a diverse selection of 100+ films from all over the world will be screened, featuring everything from animation to documentary shorts.

New this year is the category titled XR (Extended Reality) Stories, a “combination of story and technology in immersive and interactive entertainment,” according to a press release. XR encompasses virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), and mixed reality (MR).

The featured films range from as short as 3 minutes, as in Kris Lefcoe’s Booked A Room, to as long as 122 minutes, with Jan Jakub Kolski’s Loonies.
