GREENPOINT FILM FESTIVAL
SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

The Greenpoint Film Festival accepts submissions in the following categories:

  • Narrative
  • Documentary
  • Animation
  • Student (short length only)


Please read the following guidelines before submitting your film for consideration.

Entry fees must be paid in U.S. Dollars. Prices apply to a single entry and are non-refundable. The Greenpoint Film Festival reserves the right to disqualify a submission without a refund of any kind if eligibility requirements are not met before or after the film is submitted.

Awards

Special Greenpoint Film Festival awards will be given to a single winner in each category.

Submission Requirements:

1. The film must have been completed between January, 2024 – April 2026.

2. Works in any language other than English must have English subtitles at the time of submission. Dialogue lists will NOT be accepted.

3. Short films and student works must be under 40 minutes. Features must be 40 minutes or longer.

    Accepted Works

    Accepted submissions will be announced June 5, 2026.

    Works invited to participate in the Greenpoint Film Festival will be shown in the series/program determined most appropriate by the programmers and at their sole discretion.

    All accepted works must fulfill the following requirements:

    1. You agree to (i) accept responsibility for obtaining any and all clearances necessary to exhibit your film at the Greenpoint Film Festival; (ii) have the rights necessary to exhibit your film at the Greenpoint Film Festival; and (iii) indemnify and hold harmless the Greenpoint Film Festival, its affiliates, and subsidiaries and any of their respective directors, officers, employees, and representatives against any claim arising out of exhibition of your film at the Greenpoint Film Festival.
    2. GFF exhibition formats (subject to change):
      • 2(a) 1080P resolution encoded in H.264 in a .mp4 container.
    3. All files must be delivered to the address(es) designated by the Festival. We recommend you submit via a storage platform service such as Google Drive, Dropbox, Myairbridge, Mega.nz, etc in order to ensure complete and proper delivery of your entry. You are responsible for any costs of delivery in connection to any service used for online storage or delivery of electronic files to the Greenpoint Film Festival.
    4. You must provide all press and publication assets as specified in the “Materials Checklist” that will be provided upon acceptance. Example of required materials include but are not limited to:
      • 4(a) An electronic press kit (EPK) to include but not be limited to, a document with: contact info, title, runtime, genre, website, social media links, tagline, logline, short and medium synopsis, bios, directors statement, list of credits, etc;
      • 4(b) 5-10 Hi-Res production or BTS (Behind The Scenes) stills;
      • 4(c) 3-5 Hi-Res stills (frames) of the film;
      • 4(d) Film poster or One Sheet (1080 pixels x 1600 pixels) in one of the following formats: jpg, png;
      • 4(e) Headshots of key talent and/or crew (Director, DP, Producers, etc);
      • 4(f) 60 second teaser and/or trailer;
    5. All files submitted may be kept for Festival archives.


    *Students: If you are requesting a discounted student submission fee of 20%, please include proof-of-enrollment at an accredited university in lieu of a receipt which can be either (i) a copy of a valid student ID or (ii) letter verifying enrollment from an accredited college or university. Please submit your documentation electronically to entries@greenpointfilmfestival.org.

    *Multiple Entries: Each entered film must be submitted on its own file(s) and accompanied by its own completed “Entry Form”; please do not send a compilation file composed of works for separate entries. Each entry fee only applies to a single film submission.

    Submission Agreement

    By Submitting your film to the Greenpoint Film Festival you agree to the following terms and conditions as of the date of submission:

    In consideration of the opportunity of my film, short film or other submitted materials (the “Project”) being considered for exhibition at the Greenpoint Film Festival (the “Festival”), I hereby grant the Greenpoint Film Festival (and its officers, board members, volunteers and employees), its representatives, sponsors, successors, licensees and assigns (hereinafter, the “GFF”) the nonexclusive, perpetual, worldwide right to exhibit the Project in all media now known or hereafter developed and to use it in the advertising, promotion, marketing and publicity of the Festival and/or the Project.

    I represent and warrant the following:

    I have the right, capacity, and authority to enter into this agreement (the “Agreement”), that I possess or have obtained all rights necessary for the grant of rights herein and that those rights will not conflict with or violate any commitment or understanding I have with any other person or entity.

    I am authorized to give consent for everyone (including but not limited to performers, writers, directors, technical crew, distributors who contributed to the Project) and if I am submitting on behalf of an organization, I certify that I have authority to do so and that my submission of the Project binds the organization and its members to all elements of this Agreement, and all Rules & Terms set forth by the Greenpoint Film Festival.

    The rights herein granted and the Project will not defame or otherwise violate the rights of any third party including but not limited to any intellectual property, moral rights, or privacy rights; and will not violate any law, regulation or consent of any person or entity, without regard to the media (whether now known or hereafter developed) in which the Project is exhibited.

    The Project is not subject of any claim, litigation, arbitration or other adversarial proceeding or the threat thereof (including but not limited to disputes or claims about ownership of the Project).

    I expressly release, discharge and agree to hold harmless GFF from and against any and all claims, demands, disputes, suits and causes of action, damages, obligations and liabilities arising from my representations and warranties and/or arising from the Project or its exhibition, whether such claims are by me or by third parties and I agree to defend and indemnify GFF from any such claims. I irrevocably waive any and all rights to seek or obtain any injunction or other equitable relief against GFF and agree that in the event I bring a claim against GFF, the sole and maximum damages I shall be entitled to is a refund of my Festival fees. This release and hold harmless agreement shall bind my successors, assigns, licensees and representatives.

    I understand and agree that GFF can give copies of the Project to film industry members (including but not limited to network executives, agents, managers, casting directors, press and others that may be able to aid in securing distribution for the Project). I release GFF from any liability relating to the theft, unauthorized access, copying, damage to the Project or breach of the copyright of the Project.

    I understand and agree that I will receive no compensation or festival benefits of any kind for any exhibition, duplication and/or advertising, marketing, publicity and promotion of the Project, nor for any use of any likeness, image, biography, recording and equipment used by GFF as part of the Festival.

    All copyright and ownership of the Project remains with me.

    I understand that GFF is relying on this Agreement, which is irrevocable, and that I cannot cancel, terminate rescind or modify the Agreement in whole or in part. I understand that nothing herein obligates GFF to exhibit and/or market the Project and GFF reserves the right to refuse to consider any submission at its discretion.

    This Agreement sets forth the entire agreement between the parties with respect to submission of the Project or the Festival and may not be altered or amended except in writing signed by both parties. If any provision of this Agreement is determined to be unlawful or unenforceable, that provision shall be severed from this Agreement and such severance will have no effect upon the enforceability of the remainder of this Agreement. Without in any way limiting the provisions this Agreement, the parties agree that any claim, dispute or controversy arising out of or related to this Agreement or the Festival shall be governed by and interpreted under the laws of the State of New York applicable to contracts entered into and fully performed within the State of New York without regard to conflicts of law principles. The courts of Kings County, within the State of New York shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any claims relating to this Agreement, the Project or the Festival and I consent to jurisdiction and venue in said courts.
